Going Green

Since I touched on my first favorite color, orange, I thought it was time to give a little love to my next favorite: GREEN.  For the last couple of years, there’s been a huge push to “Go Green” in all our daily activities. I must say, my family is definitely into being GREEN. It’s amazing that little steps make a huge difference. Okay, okay. I’ve given my speech on being environmentally friendly-but what does this mean for the party circuit?

GREEN IDEAS for HOSTESS GIFTS and HOSPITALITY BAGS:

Some of my favorite ideas are simple and inexpensive:

– Give your hostess a basket of fruit from your local Farmer’s Market and include a note of your favorite vendors.

– Love to shop but hate the plastic?  Give the gift of ECOLOGIE.  These bags offer a variety of colors for the stylish woman, and are heavy duty enough to support all your groceries!    (Be sure to wrap them with your favorite colorful ribbon for presentation!)

– When your guests check into their hotel room for your event, leave them a welcome note in their room attached to a weekend water bottle!  They keep any refreshment cool while your guests site see in your city.  In fact, try personalizing them to fit with your weekend’s theme.

GOING GREEN FOR YOUR WEDDING:

Several of my couples have incorporated GREEN elements into their wedding that made for great conversation pieces. Check out the images below:

JOY+TIM

This fun couple had a great idea!  They emailed out a video invitation to all their friends and family from their website, then collected all the RSVP’s online, too!  It was a great way to conserve resources (not to mention easy on the pocketbook). Check out photos from their fun fiesta (She even made a costume change!)! Instead of cutting flowers to make centerpieces, Joy enlisted the help of MM Special Events to create the Fiesta feel on each table with the use of pinatas, maracas, and more!

They had a great celebration at Temple Emanu’El that included food from Blue Mesa, fantastic music by David Whiteman and the Love Chocolates, and photography by FairyTale Photography.

LEAH + MICHAEL

Talk about Going Green!  Leah and Michael had an amazingly beautiful wedding with the help of The Urban Blossom.  Their centerpieces consisted of potted marigolds in gold containers and a photo of all the places they’d visited as a couple.  Each bride carried herbs in her bouquet, leaving a fragrant trail.  As favors (and homage to the groom), the couple passed out personalized frisbees.  Let’s just say, this was one fun and creative couple! (More ideas to steal from this couple: They made up a routine for their first dance!  Sparklers were lit upon their exit!  The food was a mix of two cultures: Italian and Indian. Michael made paper cranes which hung all around Hickory Street Annex  and looked awesome in photos!)
